Hope 2018 finds you happy and excited for more feature updates on your New/Mode tools! This is a big one!
And, I’ve got to say, with the urgent fights for gun control, migrant rights, climate solutions and so much more, we know it’s often life and death out there. We’re putting everything we’ve got into rapidly developing the tools you need to win. After checking out the latest updates, please also visit our new feature request system to view requests, vote for your priorities and add new requests. Your priorities are our priorities.
Here’s what’s new
1. Personalizing with tokens is easier than ever
Want to pull supporter information such as name and location into an email signature for their letters to targets? Or personalize thank you pages and emails with your supporters’ names? Token pickers have been added to the Content tab for your tools, so you can simply select the relevant personalization tokens and add them to the content sections you would like to personalize.
2. Supporters can now send to any newspaper they choose
Many people live in South Dakota (well, not many people, but you might have several on your supporter list) but want to send letters to editors at local andstate or national newspapers. You can now include a search bar on your Letter to the Editor forms, that will allow your supporters to add specific publications from our database that don’t show up based on their location.
3. Templates to make campaign launches faster, better-looking and error-free
All accounts come with default template styles for your forms. Now, you can change the configurations and design of those default templates and add new templates, based on the needs of users in your account. Any new tools (i.e. tools not cloned from other tools) will be created from one of these default templates. With templates, you can set all your default styles and configurations in advance, so all you need to do is add new content to launch a new action.
4. More campaign analytics available and able to be synced
In addition to overall analytics for your campaigns on the Analytics tab, you can now view detailed analytics for each action, export new data to a CSV, and map new data to your CRM. This includes detailed call analytics for calling campaigns and electoral districts your supporters live in.
5. Social sharing now includes Share by Email button
All new tools now include Share by Email buttons in addition to buttons for Facebook and Twitter. If you have older templates that don’t include the Share by Email button, and you would like to add it to your thank you page and email content, click below to learn how.
6. New CRM integrations and improvements
At the end of last year we added CiviCRM to our list of integrations, and have been adding improvements to NationBuilder, Salesforce, ActionKit, and others, such as new field mappings and handling custom fields.
7. Improved form validation
We’ve added inline validation to all forms to ensure your supporters are able to navigate them seamlessly and enter data correctly. When your supporters are entering information into a field (like zip code), and that information starts to look wrong (like letters in a zip code field), they’ll be prompted on the fly to enter the correct information. This uniform validation experience will help improve conversions through ease of user experience.
8. New embedding feature for NationBuilder clients
This one requires some developer support for your NationBuilder website, but once setup, your campaigners will never have to deal with code again. Our partners at Autobox Media and Point Blank Creative developed some new code for NationBuilder action page templates, that allows campaigners to avoid working with the code in NationBuilder templates to embed New/Mode forms.
Here’s what’s on its way
1. Thank and Spank!
Is the opposition party supporting your goals, but the government just won’t budge? You’ll soon be able to setup conditional content that will load based on your supporters’ location. You set the conditions, your supporters get hyper-relevant content to put the hard pressure on where needed and give positive reinforcement where appropriate. Available for calling and emailing tools first, with Twitter and fax to follow.
Projected release week: March 5–9.
2. New user interface!
We’re launching a new theme design for our user interface in early March, which will include a new layout for your organization account and some tweaks to tool setup to make things more intuitive. You can click for a sneak peek below and add some advance feedback for continued improvement.
Projected release week: March 5–9. Click here for a sneak peek.
3. Letters to Editors in France 🇫🇷 and Germany 🇩🇪
Thanks to support from SumOfUs, new databases will soon be added for news publications in Germany and France, enabling Letter to the Editor campaigns in those two countries.
Projected release week: March 5–9.
4. Vertaling naar het Nederlands (Dutch Translation)
Thanks to support from The ONE Campaign, Dutch translation will soon be available for all tools.
Projected release week: March 5–9.
5. Better handling of email opt-ins
As part of preparation for new data protection rules in Europe, and our general commitment to meeting the needs of organizations with different privacy policies and procedures, we’ll be adding a new email opt-in feature so you no longer have to setup opt-ins on the Advanced settings tab.
Projected release week: March 26–30. Click here to view design mock-ups and provide feedback.
6. Sending images and video to targets
Have a compelling video you want your supporters to send to targets? Or maybe you’d like your supporters to Tweet a selfie with a message to their representative? Twitter, email and fax tools can now handle images and video—including content uploaded by your supporters when they take action.
Projected release week: March 26–30.
