This walkthrough will be relevant to you if you’re working with campaign tools using address-based targeting in which a supporter enters their full address (not postal code only!) into the tool’s address fields.
We’re working on getting this easy syncing solution going for all New/Mode-supported CRMs, but right now it applies to:
When you sync your CRM to New/Mode, most supporter data (first name, last name, email, phone number) is automatically connected to the associated data fields in your CRM, but you need to take an additional step to sync address information.
Luckily, you can sync address fields very easily using our custom tokens! Here’s how:
Step 1: Familiarize yourself with our five handy address tokens. Each of these tokens is associated with an address field filled out by your supporters:
Because our tokens are mapped to Google’s international standards, they might seem a bit unfamiliar. Here are a few quick translations:
- thoroughfare = street
- locality = city
- administrative area = state or province
- postal code = postal or zip code
- country = country (ok, that one’s a bit too easy…)
Step 2: To sync up address fields, go to the CRM Integrations page under Advanced settings, and click the Edit [CRM] API link:
Step 3: You’ll be taken to a page entitled Add new “[CRM] API” target. This is the page where all the real syncing magic happens. Of course, you've already set up your CRM API target, you're just going to tweak it a little now. Scroll down to the Constant field values section of the page:
Step 4: Use the CRM Field dropdown menu to find the field that you want associated with a related address token value. Each CRM uses different field values, so you’ll have to use your knowledge of your CRM to find the right fit.
Here is an example using our thoroughfare/street token with two different CRMs. For Salsa, the thoroughfare/street token may map onto the Street field:
NationBuilder, on the other hand, this address information may map onto the home address_first address line field:
Step 5: Repeat this process until you’ve included all the fields relevant to your CRM and mappable via the five constant value address tokens discussed above. Click Save.
Now anytime a supporter enters address information into your campaign tool, our tokens will automatically grab that data and transfer it into your CRM. Teamwork makes the dream work!
