Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) is an opt-in based law. It’s built around the basic idea that you should only send Electronic Messages (E-mails) to people that asks to receive them.
What does this mean for your New/Mode Community Engagement Toolbox campaign? Most organizations using New/Mode's Community Engagement Toolbox often elect to keep action takers informed on various issues. Most organizations also integrate New/Mode tools with a CRM. If this applies to you then you should set up an E-Mail Opt-In check box that gives supporters/action takers the choice of opting in or out of future emails.
Follow the instructions below if you'd like to set up the E-Mail Opt In component.
Step 1: Within the specific action module, navigate to Edit > Advanced > Components
Step 2: Add a new Component: Label The Component, Choose "Select Options" from the drop down, Click "Add".
Note: Clicking "ADD" will take you to the extended settings for your new Opt-In component
Step 3: On the Extended Settings screen, scroll down to Options. Fill in the Opt-In/Opt-Out choices (Yes and/or No) you want the supporters to take. See Image for example.
Step 4: Scroll down, Click "Save Component"
If you'd like one of the Opt-In choices pre-checked for your supporters, Select the radio button beside the option you want pre-checked. (see image below)
Important: You can change the radio buttons to a checkbox. To do this, make sure the Multiple option is checked. (See Image)
