New/Mode's integration works best with CiviCRM API version 4.7.x or greater. Please contact us if you have any questions about which CiviCRM version your organization uses.
Create Your CiviCRM Service on New/Mode
Follow the instructions below and also read more about creating a service/adding a CRM here.
Step 1: From your New/Mode Community Engagement welcome screen, click “Create a Service”
Step 2: Insert a title for your integration (example: [Org name] Action Network), then Select CRM as the "Service Type."
Step 3: Step 2 will reveal the Service Provider field: Select CiviCRM.
CiviCRM rest API path
Locate your rest API path: Your path would look something like this "http://mycivisite.com/sites/all/modules/civicrm/extern/rest.php"
CiviCRM Site Key
Locate your site wide key: Your site key would look something like this: "settings.php" OR "civicrm.settings.php"
Note: Your site key will be located in your config file (settings.php), please talk to your system administrator if you can’t locate your site key.
Locate your API Key associated with the civiCRM admin user: You can follow an approach outlined here: https://civicrm.stackexchange.com/questions/9945/how-do-i-set-up-an-api-key-for-a-user
Alternatively, you can install this to help locate your API: https://civicrm.org/extensions/api-key
Note: If you can’t find your API Key, please talk to your system administrator.
New/Mode engagement tools allows you to map each form component to your Nation Builder fields.
To match each form component to CiviCRM fields take the following steps.
- Within the specific tool, click on Edit > Advanced > CRM Integrations > Click "Edit" beside the Form Component (e.g. Postal Code) you want to map
- Scroll down to "Send To - CiviCRM API"
- Select CiviCRM field map from the drop down selection.
Notes from the developer: It's good to remember that CiviCRM isn't a hosted service like other CRMS such as Salesforce or Hubspot. It's software installed on a server that you control and maintain. Basically it's a significant extension added to either a Wordpress or Drupal site. There are no CiviCRM help lines where someone walks you through how to get an API key, so it is important to have a chat with your developer or site administrator on how to get all the assets you need to get set up on the New/Mode platform.
